What would you change about modern society?
Yes many things must improve for the better in this world. But, my blog will focus on the body shaming and this pressure on everyone not to look their age

Especially for females, we get married , and we become aunties 😬😬. What amuses and bugs me is that even a middle aged guy ( in 30s, calling him middle aged, reverse revenge 😁😁) will call you aunty . Any rickshawwala, road side vendor will call out and say , Aunty ( And to add injury to insult will add the patronizing ji)

My way of dealing with such morons is to ignore and not get into that rickshaw, even if I have to walk 1 km ( where else will my running skills be applied), or not buy anything from that road side vendor.

An amusing incident, I am suddenly recollecting is 6 months ago, I was on Linking road ( in Mumbai), and as you guys are already aware of my obsession of hand rings 😜. I asked a vendor the price of a hand ring, and he said aunty , the minute , I heard this , I took a U turn and went to a vendor 200 metres away . And ‘me being me’, bought some 20 hand rings, the earlier vendor dumbfounded, flabbergasted, eyes bugling . Sorry madam, galti ho gayi ( Sorry Ma’am , my fault ) . Thank you didn’t say behenji ( Sister ) another superfluous word which makes me grind my teeth . Did I buy from him also , can’t divulge as my husband also reads my blogs and will have panic attacks if he comes to know , that his wife is buying like 50 hand rings at one go 😂😂

Point made though, I guess
Let’s not even have these stereotypes like ‘Age is a number’, of course it is a number, what else ? You ask me my age , will I not politely ( initially) say , never ask a lady her age , or I will say the alphabet ‘Z’. 😏😏
Here to never being called aunty or (can’t even imagine ) granny 🤣
OK, I know it is a serious subject, but it made me smile too.
My wife and daughter are just as stubborn.
Thank you.

It’s a problem associated with the lack of proper terminology for addressing people. I’m not defending anyone but when taking a view from the other side, we really lack proper words to address the strangers. We arbitrarily use bhai saheb, didi, bahen ji, uncle and aunty etc in the absence of proper words like Monsieur Mme. Sometimes we are called from a distance by shouting hello…and it’s all funny with no offence.😆

Very true. I personally was getting hurt many a time when called by strange relationships by those whom even I don’t know. I used to feel turning 60 is a curse. Well … now after celebrating my first 60th birthday 😄( the truth is I don’t celebrate) and several funny experiences I stopped thinking of all these.Perhaps no one means to insult but they think it’s a respect. When someone speaks of my age i say the present speedometer reading is 69 miles per hour which is going to increase only😄.
Thanks for a nice post 🙏

I have a strict policy – No uncle and no aunty….I replace them with these two sweet words – Sir and Madam. Period !!!
