Studying law comes with its own challenges especially when your grey faculties actually start greying š. Studying the Utilitarianism theory in the morning triggered a thought process which I am penning down. It’s the view that morality comes from the pain or pleasure that actions cause. The British philosopher Jeremy Bentham thought that pain and pleasure were the most obvious and most basic motivations for humankind.
My running journey for the last 6 years is a perfect template for Utilitarianism. From the time of my first run till now, my body has endured pain, overcome challenges but I have always experienced pleasure, joyful glee and rapturous delight at the end of each run.

Reflecting back, I have a hazy memory of my depression and feeling of inadequacy and low self esteem, I encountered at the abrupt end of my entrepreneurial journey. A friend of mine gently prodded me to join a running group. And that day and today, I have been in love with running.

Each event whether in Mumbai, the mecca for runners, the Satara marathon which is a hill marathon, Hyderabad the toughest city marathon, Delhi the total flat but iconic one as the route is through Lutyens and close to Parliament and ofcourse the Ladakh Marathon are all a testimony to my journey of pain towards pleasure. Recently when I was on a vacation in Gangtok, also participated in the Gangtok Sikkim Marathon šš
My Mumbai journey, I had recently penned down https://surekha.art.blog/2023/07/03/dailypromptdailyprompt-1985/ Incase you missed it, posting the link.

The Ladakh Marathon story is in a different league. As Leh altitude is higher, you need to acclimatise yourself. Hence I reached Leh 8 days before the event. And went around Leh and Ladakh for sightseeing. All was well, a day before the event, I twisted my ankle and lo behold, within an hour my leg was swollen šš. I was in a dilemma. I have come here not for sightseeing but for running the event . Believe me, took painkillers every hour for 6 hours and participated and completed the event š¬š¬

And the journey continues. Every time there is a race the next day, some or other jinx hits me , but ‘Me being me’ believes and follows, what my coach says , if plan A doesn’t work , plan B , then plan C , if none work, walk, crawl but complete the race .
In this topsy turvy turbulent journey of mine, I have achieved few podium positions also . Well guess š, not all have been plagued by hoodoo .

Congratulations well achieved
