Why or , why can’t it be both

Are you seeking security or adventure?

Was wondering is there a tradeoff for everything in life? šŸ¤”. Want to be slim-fit, then eat bland diet food. Want to lead an honest life ? then don’t expect you will be loaded with money. Want to be stress free and tension less? then don’t expect to climb the corporate ladder . And I can go on and on

Why can’t l have it all? I want to be secure in my relationship but do not want to lead a mundane life, thus need to do varied things to keep the spice in the relationship. I need to be more adventurous, innovative which may ultimately lead to security in my life.

Why do we associate adventure with risk and thus as security demands risk averse behaviour, we need to be cautious, unenterprising, as if being careful is the guru mantra to security.

I don’t accept this correlation between security and adventure as being antonymous.

Krishna Shiwarkar with a lot of lucidity and convincing power of words talks of striking a balance between the two and my dear friend Sanjay totally agrees with it and feels that’s how life should be. Respect and love to both of you guys

But I beg to differ here. Striking Balance is giving equal importance to both and ensuring both are nurtured and taken care of.

I don’t need to take care or give importance to any. Both security and adventure run on parallel lines in my life and never shall twain meet .

Am I making sense, or am getting befuddled in my cesspool of thoughts as to I am an adventure loving person who is anyone so insecure having this overriding feeling of inadequacy , low self esteem, self worth . Hence getting a sense of security is way beyond my comprehension.

Don’t want to sound so dark and sinister, thus uploading , what else my pictures which will cheer me , will they cheer you , well let me know 😁😁

  1. Surekha, I read your blog repeatedly and tried to figure out the frequencies that don’t resonate with what Krishna has mentioned in his blog. You would probably be surprised that I found none.

If you look at the two from mutual fund point of view, Krishna says go for equity funds as well as debt funds both for the corpus amounts decided by you. Let the money be handled differently by respective fund manager. Keep a watch on marker movements and if feel so, re-distribute the part or full accumulated corpus from equity to debt or vice versa. It’s dynamic mechanism and is a function of time. Krishna is not averse or inclined to any particular take away. In principle, your parallel line concept basically endorses the fundamental philosophy of safety and adventure both, without fully compromising any one of the two. From logic point of view, it’s AND gate that is chosen by you both. Variations in the two individual streams can be fine tuned as per time dynamics. Balance doesn’t essentially mean 50-50, it could be 10-90, 20-80 or so on. Surekha is empowered to decide the individual weightage thereof. Hope, this clarifies my as well as Krishna’s view point.

    • Yes Sanjay. Read your earlier comment and first of all want to appreciate the effort you have put in understanding the different view points and assimilating the similarities. I agree with your analysis. You are right. The only point I wanted to drive was in this world of choices and decisions, we are always groping in the dark, worried what is the best road to take . But you are right when you say convergence is the flavour of life .

  3. Coming to striking a balance again, I have experienced and experimented with it personally. I’m probably the only person,
In my MNC oil & Gas co, who has first graduated with Sangeet Visharad in Hindustani Classical Instrumental-Violin at the age of 16, before graduating in Mechanical Engineering from.IIT Roorkee. I got myself trained sd Braille instructor, accreditation under NAB (National Association for Blind) as the first visually enabled person in Maharashtra to get such accreditation and started voluntarily teaching in Blind Schools on weekends. I had been teaching on weekends @Hellen Keller Institute for Deaf and Deaf Blind, Mumbai for more than 15 years. Of late, I was finding it unmanageable due to responsibilities of carrying corporate baggage, I carry at senior level. This one is one such compromises, I was forced to do unwillingly. Life teaches us to choose and prioritise our things as we grow older. Holding the two birds might end in leaving the other go to the bush.
