What was your favorite subject in school?
History has always been a subject which has fascinated me.
I remember my passion for history got ignited after I read ‘ Freedom at Midnight ‘ the iconic book on India’s struggle for independence from its colonial rulers .
Though in school focus was more on Indian history.
I devoured hungrily all the information on the French revolution and how America became the beacon of hope for nascent values like equality, liberty and democracy.
I was barely in my teens when I read ‘ Gone with the Wind’ and was totally blown away with the narrative and the sketch of the American struggle with slavery .
Though in college, I lost touch with history as a subject. History never left me .
Today thanks to Netflix and all other OTT channels, I have rekindled my connection and love for history.
I love watching historical series, documentaries, and movies .
The few recent ones I recollect and world recommend to history lovers are -The Crown, The Tudors, Rome, Downtown Abbey, Bridgeton , Gentleman Jack, Troy – Fall of the City, Rise of Empires – Ottoman , The underground Railroad, The Man in the High Castle, and I can go on and on š¬.
I love history too ā¤ļø
