First day of Kashmir Great Lakes Trek
Early morning flight from Pune felt like a torture as no sleep was possible. Meeting the other trekkers definitely lifted me and getting to know all of them , didn’t realise the time even when boarding started .

Reached Srinagar by 930 am.
The first breathtaking view of Srinagar made me realise why it is called ‘ Paradise on Earth’ . Seeing the iconic Dal lake for the first time will become a cherished memory for me forever.

Reaching the hotel , I realised for the first time that hunger pangs were overtaking me.
The yummy parathas soothed them , but if I knew that for the next 8 days, my staple diet would only be parathas , don’t know if would have really relished it 😀😀.
For someone like me who lives and dies by idli, dosa and coffee, having parathas all the time was a challenge as huge as the rough terrain on the Trek.

By noon we were in a taxi en route to Gagangir near Sonmarg.
The first task on hand was a small acclimatising walk.
The whole troupe excitedly started walking and soaking in the amazing beauty around.
Half a kilometre ahead , a breathtaking sight transfixed all of us.
The river flowing under the bridge made us realise that we were now truly away from our mundane life into the nature’s lap.

The best part of our Home stay where we spent our last night on a bed was that there was no electricity and no mobile network.
Thus began our sojourn .
Await my blog about our first day of trekking.
Amazing pictures.. Sonmarg and Gulmarg both seem such similar names.. Enjoy every bit of your adventure👍❤❤❤
